my story

^2010^
^2013^
^Christmas 2014^

i figured it's good to put it out there, and whoever wants to read it and use it, can.

i was never living the healthiest lifestyle.
though i was never a partier, and never did drugs,
my diet was ew.
cue all kinds of meats, gmo's, processed foods, cold cuts, caffeine, cakes, sweets, sushi, anything with sugar.
i was eating at home, and eating out A LOT!

I didn't know that what i was doing was going to have consequences,
and in the depth of my soul i believe that the nutrition and stress factor
is what bought on my diagnosis of hodgkin's lymphoma, in oct. 2012.

commence: chemo, november 2012- april 2013.
ice chemo- april 2013- june 2013
stem cell transplant- july 19 2013- aug 6 2013

so basically, i've died a few times (serious- NDE's galore, some i don't even remember, they had me so drugged up)

and i prayed and prayed and prayed some more...
and i knew, in october 2013, when my onc.'s were grasping at straws
that i wasn't going to deal with the medical b.s. anymore.

if they couldn't tell me where this dis-ease came from,
how were they going to cure me with poison?
i was NOT getting sick again,
i was NOT having people with hazmat suits inject nasty nasty goo into my poor body anymore.

so God, answered my prayers, and I've been detoxing ever since.
i have tried everything,
and never have i felt this good before.

i know it's hard, but the thing with diagnosis is this:
mind, body and spirit keep you sick.
if one is, the others follow suit.
you can choose your path by following your soul and instincts:
NOT YOUR FEAR.

I had let fear dictate my life up until my prayers were answered,
and i don't anymore.

if any of you guys are out there, and want help,
message me, I am here!

MAGNESIUM OIL

"Since all Magnesium Oils are made by use of seawater in some way or another that is diluted and desalinated to an extent, I thought what would happen if we used ACE – the super Great Salt Lake desalinated water = takes 13 to 18 months to make one batch and has 1,000,000 times more flavanoids than even Concentrace, the de-salinated Great Salt Lake mineral product… with 7 to 10 times their electrolytes, what would happen if I used this one instead for making of Magnesium OIL instead of just adding Magnesium Chloride to Distilled water (or in the case of Ancient Minerals version, adding it to spring water)…. Wow has this version of ACE Mag Oil been working, and working faster, not just better… pain disappearing soo much faster from knees and hips as well as mind regaining it’s youthful powers and awareness and SOUNDNESS for some… regardless, I could go on forever on this but remember that this Magnesium is one of the 4 major pillers of all nutrition and without it we’re in serious trouble since no Vitamin nor Mineral/Element/Trace Elements nor enzymes will work without it (in general, not alllll enzymes are dependent on Mag ) !! Are you getting some perspective yet??? Want testimonials on the freakish power of Magnesium Oils that are weaker than ACE – from all over the earth… see those links right below and … then … even lower about 2 pages later, is a lottttt more information on testimonials and science uses and on and on and on! Scary powerful stuff! Wow…"

Taken from : http://www.extremehealthradio.com/magnesium-oil-directions-and-info-ace-version-magnesium-oil-by-robert-von-sarbacher/

Ok, so if you know me by now...and you might, at least a little bit...I research so much that it comes as naturally as breathing to me. I have been going over my research notes and delving into the parts I haven't touched on, modalities I haven't used or researched, etc.

I was thinking that this magnesium oil phenomenon might help my aching shoulders and neck...I guess that's where many of us, especially me, carry a lot of day to day stresses (and by this, I mean even routine stuff!)

I have a feeling this is totally something to look into-- taking care of you and investing in yourself/your health, is the best thing that you can do.

If you've used magnesium oil for anything, I am open for messaging :)

when i grow up...

if you know me,
you know that i'm the girl
who would love to wander the rainforests,
jungles, forests and fields
learning about everything healing from shamans,
medicine people, and healers.

this is the way i've always been,
which is ironic since i was scared into
going through chemo
which i would never do again, ever.
note: if i could go back in time,
i would never have done it.

but we keep moving forward...

i'm still the girl who would love to meet healers,
so i picked this book up in the library,
and am posting some interesting tidbits from it
here, in my blog...because if you're like me
you like this stuff, too.

page 6--
"Many of the human body's powerful reactions are a direct response to plant alkaloids, a class of chemical compounds most common in tropical plants.
Alkaloids, which are characterized by a molecular structure that must include a nitrogen atom and at least two carbon atoms, have had a major impact on every culture- if not every person- on the planet. They provide everything from  the kick in our morning coffee (caffeine) to the addictive compounds in our most dangerous drugs (cocaine, heroin and nicotine), the toxic principles in some of the deadliest poisons (strychnine and batrachotoxin), the analgesic effects in our most potent painkillers (codeine and morphine), and the mental pyrotechnics in someof the most powerful hallucinogens (mescaline and psilocybin.)....

Quinine, an alkaloid from the bark of the cinchona tree and one of the bitterest substances known, was first discovered thousands of years ago by South American Indians in what is now Peru and Ecuador. Since then it has been widely used throughout the tropics and much of the temperate world to cure malaria, a disease caused by a parasite, transmitted by mosquitoes, that destroys the red blood cells. Although thought of by many as a jungle disease, the illness does not discriminate based on geographyl malaria has been and still is a world ranging disease....

Yet a single plant alkaloid reveleaed to us by South American Indiands has helps eradicate malaria in the temperate zone and reduce the prevalence of the disease. "

Gotta love this stuff...

anyone ever study this stuff, or go on such adventures?
i would love to hear from you!

a new store in flushing!

Interesting article in the Bayside Times, link here!

Article pasted, here:

For those who do not speak Korean, the Erom store near Broadway Station may appear — at first glance — to be a place devoted solely to the sale of bidets.
After all, the name of the European-style plumbing fixtures is the only English-language word adorning the sign over the corner of 164th Street and Northern Boulevard, and a pair of the devices are prominently displayed in the window of a commodious storefront as clean and tidy as porcelain.
Erom is, in fact, a line of Korean-manufactured wellness products, including appliances, foods and cosmetics.
“It’s a well-being store,” shop owner Young Pak said.
In addition to the bidets, which run between $650 and $800, including free installation while the store celebrates its grand opening this month, the other big ticket item at Pak’s shop is the water ionizer, a device that uses an electric current to separate the alkaline and acid found in the magnesium and calcium ions in water.
The wellness industry — including bottlers who may charge more than $4 for 20 ounces of the stuff — tout the health benefits of using water with a high pH level to neutralize acid in the bloodstream, boost metabolism and help the body more effectively absorb nutrients.
While there is no scientific consensus on the claims, alkaline water’s proponents say its benefits are wide-reaching.
“It’s very popular, especially in Korea,” said Pak, who added that cancer patients find alkaline water easier to swallow. “It helps to rehabilitate the body.”
The ionizers, which need to be hooked up to a tap water supply, are not inexpensive.
The Juvenis VII, which Pak said is ideal for a family of five or more, runs in the $3,000 range while the economy-size Juvenis V costs about $2,500.
Aside from the hardware, his store — which may evoke a knowing smile from New Yorkers whose bathrooms are uncomfortably close to the rest of their apartment — is arranged with an orderly stack of cubbies surrounding a cream-colored couch and a station with a kitchen sink.
The shelves each hold an Erom food product — freeze-dried, raw meals with organic ingredients that claim to do everything from fight cancer to help children grow taller.
The kitchen station, which Pak plans to have ready for the store’s April 7 grand opening, will be used to demonstrate pH levels in the city’s tap and show through different tests how the ionizer brings down pH levels.
Pak said he expects to do well with those already familiar with the Erom brand and reputation, adding that the appeal is universal.
“Everyone wants to diet and alkaline water is good for a diet,” he said.

I'M SO EXCITED!

about breastfeeding

from this book!

a note:: i'm not a mama, but i have one. nonetheless, i found this tidbit interesting...

Breastfeeding lowers Lymphoma Risk::

Breast feeding can reduce the risk of certain cancers for both mother and child. Researchers from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development in Bethesda, Md. found that infants breast fed for less than 6 months had approximately twice the risk of getting some childhood cancers by age 15 as those breast fed for longer than 6 months. They also had 5 times the risk of getting lymphoma.

"Mothers milk contains substantial antimicrobial benefits for infants, increasing their resistance to many infections and possibly protecting them from many diseases, including lymphomas." Researchers reported.

The book also states that breast feeding promotes mental development, lowers breast cancer risk for the mother, the children are smarter, and less of a chance of getting ADD or ADHD.

cool.

you go, mama's!

antioxidants

this info on antioxidants, also from this book!

Antioxidants:

Antioxidants are natural substances in plant-quality foods that possess health gving benefits. WHole grains, vegetables, and fruits contain a variety of active phytochemicals known as antioxidants that help control the oxidation of free radicals, normal but highly reactive substances which in excess can injure cell membranes. Natural antioxidants include phenolic compounds, terpenoids, pignments, and some forms of vitamins a, carotenoids, vitamin c, vitamin e, and selenium. foods with the highest antioxidant activity include soybeans, cabbage, ginger, garlic, licorice, umbelliferous vegetables, and citrus fruits. antioxidants reduce the rik of cardiovascular disease, hypertensions, diabetes and several forms of cancer.

Ancient Medicine: Lymph Nodes

"Lymph Glands; Lymph Glands are one method the body has for eliminating toxins. If you have problems here, check you priorities. Are you retaining toxic thoughts or beliefs for no apparent reason?"

The above information is from the website http://www.compassionatedragon.com/metaphysics4.html

Many believe that the cause of sicknesses or cancers are related to the psyche, which causes the immune system to shut down with any negative thoughts about yourself or others.

There are times where we all hijack our emotions. Fear of doing something, fear of what others will think of you, fear instilled in you from others...

Well, when you have cancer, you stop giving a crap of what people think of you. It's probably because you've realized that the people you love and who love you stayed in your life through your ordeal, and no one else really matters.

We've all dealt with toxic relationships-- spouses, partners, family, friends--
the ones who have to one-up you (gotta love the competitive ones), the ones who love to put you down,

but how do you get out of them?
or just stop giving a ^%^%#%#?

lol--
i think the trick is to stay super, duper busy at all costs!

and within  your budget, of course.

so while you're stuck at home due to the blues, or the weather...
learn. blog. create.clean. do something. keep BUSY!

"The Seven Emotions

The seven basic emotions related to organ function are anger, joy, worry, pensiveness, sadness, fear, and shock (fright). Although the mind/body connection has been acknowledged only relatively recently in Western medicine, the interaction of emotions with the physical body is an essential aspect of traditional Chinese medicine.
Each organ has a corresponding emotion; imbalance of this emotion can affect the organ's function. For example, prolonged anger can lead to an imbalance in the liver. At the same time, liver imbalances can produce symptoms of anger, often leading to a self-perpetuating cycle.
In discussing the emotional aspect of the disease process, it is important to remember that it is normal to experience the full range of emotions. It is only when a particular emotion is experienced over a prolonged period or with particular intensity that it becomes a source of imbalance. It is obviously important for a person with severe emotional problems to get professional help from a trained psychotherapist. But even in these cases, the therapy is more effective when the corresponding organ imbalance is rectified. Acupuncture is especially effective in treating disorders of the emotions. Even when it is not completely effective in treating a physical ailment, it almost always brings about a state of emotional peacefulness.

Anger

Anger is associated with the liver. By its nature, anger causes qi to rise, leading to a red face and red eyes, headaches, and dizziness. This matches the pattern of liver fire rising. Anger can also cause liver qi to "attack the spleen," producing lack of appetite, indigestion, and diarrhea (often experienced by those people who argue at the dinner table or eat while driving).
In a more long-term view, suppressed anger or frustration often causes liver qi to become stagnant; this might result in depression or menstrual disorders. It is interesting to note that people who take herbs to release stagnant liver qi often experience bouts of anger as the stagnation is relieved. The anger passes as the condition clears. Similarly, anger and irritability are often the determining factor in diagnosing liver qi stagnation. Many people are relieved to know their rage has a physiologic basis. It is essential to avoid drinking coffee when treating anger-related liver disorders, as coffee heats the liver and greatly intensifies the condition.

Joy

The emotion of joy is connected with the heart. A disorder related to joy may sound perplexing, since most people want as much joy in their life as possible. The disorders from this emotion are not caused by happiness; rather, the imbalance comes from too much excitement or stimulation, or sudden good news that comes as a shock to the system.
When evaluating stress levels, psychologists look at all sources of stress, both positive and negative. Clearly the death of a spouse or a job loss is a significant source of stress. However, a marriage or job promotion, while a happy occasion, is also a source of stress. A person who is constantly on the go, partying, and living a life of excess can eventually develop heart imbalances with palpitations, anxiety, andinsomnia. A person with heart imbalances may also exhibit emotional symptoms, since the heart is the seat of the spirit (shen). A person with extreme disturbances of heart shen might be seen chattering happily to himself with outbursts of laughter.
Such behavior results from the heart organ's inability to provide a stable resting place for the spirit. This type of imbalance is treated with acupuncture along the heart meridian. Herbal treatments consist of formulas that nourish heart blood or yin. If heart fire disturbs the spirit, herbs that clear heat from the heart are used.

Worry

A very common emotion in our stress-filled society, worry can deplete the energy of the spleen. This can cause digestive disturbances and eventually lead to chronic fatigue: A weakened spleen cannot efficiently turn food into qi, and the lungs are unable to extract qi from air efficiently. A person who worries too much "carries the weight of the world on her shoulders," a good description of how a person feels when her weak spleen qi leads to dampness. Treatment would include moxa and herbs that strengthen the spleen, allowing a person the energy to deal with life's problems instead of dwelling on them.

Pensiveness

Too much thinking or obsessing about a topic can also deplete the spleen, causing a stagnation of its qi. A person with this condition may exhibit such symptoms as poor appetite, forgetting to eat, and bloating after eating. In time, the person may develop a pale complexion from a deficiency of spleen qi. This can eventually affect the heart, causing the person to dream about the same subjects at night. Students are often affected by this imbalance; the standard treatment is use of herbs that tonify heart blood and spleen qi.

Sadness

Sadness or grief affects the lungs, producing fatigue, shortness of breath, crying, or depression. Treatment for this condition involves acupuncture to points along the lung and kidney meridians. Often, herbal formulas are used that tonify the qi or yin of the lungs.

Fear

The emotion of fear is related to the kidneys. This relationship can readily be seen when extreme fear causes a person to urinate uncontrollably. In children, this can also manifest as bed-wetting, which psychologists have linked to insecurity and anxiety. Long-term anxiety due to worrying about the future can deplete the kidneys of yin, yang, and qi, eventually leading to chronic weakness. Treatment involves tonifying the kidneys with yin or yang tonics, depending on the particular symptoms.

Shock

Shock is especially debilitating to the kidneys and heart. The "fight or flight" reaction causes an excessive release of adrenaline from the adrenal glands that sit on top of the kidneys. This causes the heart to respond with palpitations, anxiety, and insomnia. Chronic stress from shock can be very debilitating to the entire system, causing a wide range of problems. Severe shock can have a long-term effect on the heart shen, as is evident in victims of post-traumatic stress syndrome. Treatment involves psychotherapy, herbs that calm the spirit and nourish the heart and kidneys, and regular acupuncture treatments."

what i want right now:

i was always fascinated with old world knowledge about food, plants,  herbs, etc.
also, obsessed with movies/shows like, dr.quinn: medicine woman, and practical magic...

when i was really little it goes way back to me mixing up soaps in the bathroom and wishing i knew how to make my own (i obviously never vocalized this to my family)...

always wanted to blend my own teas, and herbs, and experiment with food (making my poor niece "experiment" with me...I'm sorry!!)

so that's what i want.

i devour books and knowledge like this and have recently picked up the book, "Herbal Home Remedies by Jude".

What I will be posting in segments is what part of each herb is used and for what (as a type of medicine):

Acacia

  • use the exudation part
  • removes phlegm from the throat and bronchia, used for respiratory and digestive organs

Allspice

  • use the root
  • used for blood disorders, liver, and gallbladder problems

Angelica

  • use roots, leaves and seeds
  • expectorant for colds and coughs, can treat kidney disorders, aids digestive system.
  • don't mistake hemlock for angelica!!

Anise

  • use leaves and seeds
  • good for colds and flu, digestive aid

Apple

  • use whole fruit
  • dried apple tea as a diuretic
  • aids in elimination of toxins from the system

Asparagus

  • use shoots and roots
  • tea from asparagus is an excellent diuretic, drink every 2-3 hours

Balm of Gilead

  • closed bud of the poplar tree is used
  • expectorant for chest ailments and bronchial disorders

Basil

  • use the leaves
  • aids in digestion and is used as a milk laxative, is used to treat headaches

Bee Balm

  • use the whole plant
  • used as an antiseptic because it contains thymol and removes impurities from the blood, stimulates the liver and spleen

Blackberry

  • use leaves, fruit, roots
  • dissolves deposits in the alimentary system (the organ system devoted to the ingestion, digestion, and assimilation of food and the discharge of residual wastes) as well as the kidneys

Black Alder

  • use barks and fruits
  • treatment for liver and bladder problems, cleans the system of accumulated mucoid toxins (which the medical field calls quackery but it's come out of me and i've seen it while not using anything so it's true)

Boneset

  • the upper half of the herb is used
  • cleansing effect on all organs
  • used as a tonic as well as an aid in eliminating mucus from the alimentary, bronchial, bowel and liver systems
  • also a muscle relaxant

Borage
  • use leaves and flowers
  • relieves depression, the flowers brewed as a tea are used to treat fevers and colds
(taken from pages 42-44)

random things i know!

(one of the random things i know-- these 2 cute pups like to be bad together!!)

i had to get these out of my head,
but there was so many
i couldn't categorize them!
(sorry! even if i've repeated them)

  • your immune system tries to attack the 5 a's...antacids, antibiotics, alcohol, advil, animal foods
  • anything white and refined causes candida and suppresses the immune system
  • melatonin is an anti-cancer substance for the entire body
  • genes don't cause disease, but changes in the environment do.
  • remission only occurs in 7% of patients, no evidence that that success rate results from the treatments offered.
  • temporary tumor shrinkage through chemo has never shown to cure cancer or extend life.
  • have a cough-- use licorice herb (i've done this, it's so helpful, yummy, and non-"medicine"
  • prednisone, cortisone and other steroids used to treat dozens of conditions including asthma, lupus and cancer frequently cause weight gain, because they boost the appetite and force the body to retain certain fluids. they CAUSE just as many disorders as they are used for including cancer, heart disease, depression, hostility and aggression and eating disorders and...RISK OF HIV!
  • tumors could disappear when toxins are eliminated
